Because I am a libertarian. I believe in common sense, the freedom of the individual; that hard work should be rewarded not punished and that society is held together by responsibility and family values. I have been involved for 6 years and have had some really unique and educational experiences, from the offices of Westminster to the multitude of parties up and down the country! This would have maintained our pension system, which at the time was the envy of the world, and prevent the investment flight into property buying and hedge funds. This would have meant that there would have been less of a spiral in the property market, less unsustainable mortgage demand, and generally a more sustainable investment strategy in the UK. Speculatively this would have put us in a much stronger position on the world stage now most of the G8 have entered recession. It is a small thing, but one of many systematic mistakes which our current Prime Minister will have to answer to history.
