It all stems from one word. Aspiration. The choice between waiting for something to happen, and going and making something happen. I want to change the way we work in Britain. We should want to aspire to greatness as individuals, and as a nation. We can't even begin to achieve that if millions in the country are unable to contribute.
The fact of the matter is that we are all in this together, and we should give no quarter to the wastage of British talent. I want to see young people in council estates up and down the country to aspire to be more than they are now. I want them to at the very least try to make something of their lives, rather than allow the government to consign them to the scrapheap. That's just a start.
Oh! Well I could give you a whole list of people down the years whom I admire and respect... However I would have to say William Wilberforce, Abraham Lincoln, and Benjamin Disraeli are some of the best leaders the world has ever seen. Wilberforce for his fight against the slave trade, Lincoln for his fight against sessionists in his own country, and Disraeli for leading the way in the 1800's in fighting, in a conservative manner, to improve the conditions of ordinary people across Britain.
To improve their lot. We're the only party offering change, if you want a say in how the country is run, then you have to get involved. The decisions the country takes over the next ten years will not be decided by those who walked away from politics, claiming it a sham, but by those who declared it a sham and went in to change it. So come on, Let's do that together, and have a bit of fun along the way!
Ah, well that's a hard one to call! It would have to be either the Lisbon Treaty or the reams of legislation curtailing civil liberites. My head says Lisbon, but my heart says civil liberites. Freedom to party man.
